Rajasthan Royals Probable Retention List for IPL 2026: From Yashasvi Jaiswal to Akash Madhwal – Full Details

Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, and Jason Roy are ruled out of the IPL 2026 auction due to BCCI’s revised eligibility and withdrawal rules.

As the countdown to the IPL 2026 mini-auction begins, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will go through roster changes that will heavily revamp after a disappointing IPL 2025 season. With reports claiming that the long-time captain Sanju Samson may leave the franchise, the RR management is now lining up to build a new core around emerging Indian talent and a rejuvenated overseas bowling attack.

🏏 Key Indians Likely to be Retained

At the head of the Royals’ probable retention list will be Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was RR’s highest run-scorer last year and is central to their long-term plans. Along with him, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Rana, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi will probably also be retained. These young domestic players have in recent years displayed some consistency and are considered to be the future core of the team.

🌍 Overseas and Bowling Core

Among overseas players, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Nandre Burger, and Akash Madhwal are likely to form the backbone of RR’s bowling department.
In the batting unit, Shimron Hetmyer and Lhuan-dre Pretorius are expected to provide experience and firepower in the middle order. Rising South African pacer Kwena Maphaka is also under consideration as a potential breakout signing for the Royals.

🔄 A Balanced, Future-Ready Squad

The Rajasthan Royals are reportedly set to release several senior players to free up funds for acquiring impactful finishers and all-rounders in the upcoming auction. The franchise’s new strategy focuses on building a youthful, adaptable, and well-balanced squad capable of thriving across diverse match conditions — a key area of concern during their 2025 campaign.

The official retention list is expected to be announced ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction in November 2025, as RR aim to rebuild their side and emerge as a top contender in the next season.
