Devotional films are a rare sight these days. After the recent success of the animated devotional film Mahavatar Narasimha across the country, another faith-based movie titled Anantha is now winning hearts on OTT. As a Sankranthi special, Anantha has been making its rounds on Jio Hotstar since Tuesday and is delighting the audience with a good response.
Anantha is a religious drama fashioned from the divine miracles of Puttaparthi Sai Baba. It is the work of veteran filmmaker Suresh Krishna who has previously credited successful ventures such as Baasha and Annamalai. Girish Krishnamurthy rights to the film has been shared in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
The film is supported by a star-studded cast that includes Jagapathi Babu, Suhasini, Y.G. Mahendran, Nigel Ravi, and Thalaivasal Vijay in major parts. Deva is the music composer for the film while Snaishan has written the dialogues and lyrics that infuse the narrative with emotionality.
Bidding the phrase to director Suresh Krishna, he said that Anantha is not a story telling of Sai Baba’s life through the silver screen. It narrates a story of the culture that mostly revolves around the practice of faith in God’s divine grace. He lauded the entire cast and said that music by Deva is a huge advantage of the film.
The director also mentioned that the film was offered to be released in theatres by various eminent personalities. But the makers opted for a direct digital release because they had a commitment with the OTT platform beforehand. Anantha, which commenced streaming on January 13 on Jio Hotstar, has been receiving encouraging feedback from the audience, especially, devotees and family viewers.
Its strong spiritual theme coupled with positive word-of-mouth has Anantha emerging as a considerable devotional offering on the OTT during this festive season.
