“If I Wasn’t Prabhakar’s Son, I’d Have Got More Film Offers,” Says Actor Chandrahas

Actor Chandrahas during promotions of his upcoming film Barabar Premistha, sharing his journey and challenges in cinema.

Television actor Prabhakar’s son, popular as the “Attitude Star,” Chandrahas is steadily trying to carve a space for himself in the film industry. The young actor who first appeared as a hero in his silver-screen debut through Ram Nagar Bunny now prepares to launch his second film Barabar Premistha.

The film showcases Miss India finalist Meghana Mukherjee as the female lead and Arjun Mahi as the villain character. The film Barabar Premistha which Sampath Rudra directed will have its theatrical release on February 6.

“My Father Didn’t Support Me Initially”

Chandrahas described his personal experiences and professional journey during the promotional activities of the movie. He disclosed his acting passion started when he turned 17 but his father did not approve of his acting aspiration at that time.

“My father clearly told me that he would support me only after I turned 25.” Until then, I didn’t want to sit idle. I travelled a lot, but academically I had only completed my 12th standard,” Chandrahas said.

“My Mother’s Tears Changed Everything”

Chandrahas presented an emotional moment which he experienced with his mother because this event marked a crucial change in his life.

“The mother of the speaker collapsed in tears because she did not know how to interact with people after her son completed only 12th grade.” He remembered that she cried while asking about ways to maintain her dignity. Chandrahas chose to enroll in college because of her emotional impact on him yet he planned to keep pursuing his acting career through short films and auditions.

Facing Rejection and the ‘Star Kid’ Label

Recalling a bitter experience, Chandrahas spoke about visiting a major production office where he was made to wait for hours, only to be told later that he was not suitable for the role—without even being called inside.

“They knew I was Prabhakar’s son. If I wasn’t his son, I wouldn’t have taken that insult so personally,” he said.

“Being Prabhakar’s Son Became a Limitation”

Chandrahas believes that his identity has, in some ways, limited his opportunities.

“If I wasn’t Prabhakar’s son, I would have done many films by now—small roles, supporting roles, anything. But now I don’t have that freedom,” he stated.

Following that incident, Chandrahas took a firm decision. Instead of spending heavily on higher education abroad, he asked his family to invest that money in a music project.

“I told them that if they gave me ₹10–15 lakh, I would produce a song. I believed that someone would notice me through that. And just as I hoped, a film opportunity came my way,” he concluded.
