CM Revanth Reddy Announces Formation of Three New Corporations in Hyderabad

CM Revanth Reddy reviews plans for three new municipal corporations in Hyderabad, including Cyberabad and Malkajgiri.

The Telangana government has decided the splitting up of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), which means that three new municipal corporations will be formed: separately Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy declared that the end of the time-consuming and difficult task of this historic restructuring is signaled by the preparation of the reports for submission to the government. It is widely believed that the final details will be made public through a formal announcement in the Legislative Assembly on January 2, 2026.

Telangana Municipal Corporation will cover the areas of the historical city along with the central one and will consist of six zones and 150 divisions ranging from Ramgopalpet in Secunderabad to Shamshabad. Charminar, Falaknuma, Abids, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, and Rajendranagar are the major spots.

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, which will be the city’s IT corridor, is going to cover the western parts of the city, which are among the fastest-growing – Miyapur, Gachibowli, Hitech City, Kondapur, Narsingi, and Genome Valley will together make up this area with 76 divisions. The tech hubs will be going through the urban development which the corporation aims to drive.

Municipal Corporation of Malkajgiri will take care of North-East Hyderabad area and will include parts of Keesara, Uppal, Nagole, ECIL, Sainikpuri, and Pedda Amberpet covering 74 divisions. This corporation will combine defense, railway, and industrial zones under a single administration.

Infrastructure and Administration Plans

The government has put police commissionerates for all three corporations into place already. Town planning, water, electricity, traffic, and other civic departments will be reorganized in accordance with the new administrative divisions. The Hyderabad Corporation will use the existing GHMC headquarters, while the Cyberabad and Malkajgiri Corporations will have new buildings each on 10 acres.

Besides, the government has nominated extra commissioners for major zones in the new corporations who will take over as full-fledged commissioners when the corporations are officially formed. The existing GHMC Commissioner, R.V. Karnan, will remain in charge of the Hyderabad Corporation.

Future Expansion

A Future City Commissionerate is still in the process of being built, with 30 acres set aside for its construction, which will be the fourth commissionerate in the city center. This decision is to enhance governance and decentralize administration for improved public services all over Hyderabad.

By means of this restructuring, the Telangana government is going to bring about a new era of urban governance, assuring improved service delivery, concentrated development, and better control throughout the vast metropolitan region of Hyderabad.
