The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has already done everything necessary for the traffic and transportation networks during the New Year’s celebrations in 2026. They are also telling residents and visitors to use the public transport instead of private cars if they want to travel safe and easy all over the city.
The RTA posted on X (formerly Twitter) that their operational plans could manage the influx of people during the celebrations. Massive service expansions have been implemented by the authorities, including a continuous operation of the Dubai Metro for 43 hours that is destined to get rid of jams on main roads and the routes leading to them.
Dubai Metro and Tram Extended Timings
The Dubai Metro’s Red and Green lines will run for a non-stop service from 5 AM of Wednesday, December 31, 2025, till 11:59 PM of Thursday, January 1, 2026, in support of the shift from private cars. This offering of continuous link-up between the most celebrated residential areas and the most celebrated ones like Downtown Dubai and Dubai Marina is a highlight of the service.
Apart from this, the Dubai Tram will also be available for a longer period, from 6 AM of December 31 to 1 AM of New Year’s Day, facilitating local dispersion in the coastal areas and providing metro lines and celebration hubs easily accessible to the passengers.
Bus Services and Traffic Management
To meet this kind of requirements, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority improved the bus network- this was designed for priority, instance heavy, lines.
- The E100 intercity bus service from Al Ghubaiba will be halt temporarily until January 4. The last buses will depart from Abu Dhabi at 12 PM midday, and from Dubai at 2 PM, January 2026, and the service will be brought back on January 4, 2026.
- Pass. travelers going to Abu Dhabi are recommended to use the E101 bus service from Ibn Battuta Bus Station.
- Route E102 will work from 2 PM on December 31 till the end of the day serving the passengers from Ibn Battuta.
Those counteract steps for maintaining traffic flow smooth, obviate traffic congestion and give primacy to safety of the passengers.
Planning, Safety, and Digital Tools
The RTA points out that even though they have made thorough preparations, public participation in planning is still very important. They invite the local people and the tourists to:
- The use of the S’hail app allows one to receive live notifications regarding the various metro, tram and bus services.
- For marine transport timings and service details, the RTA website is a good source to be referred for the latest updates.
- It is better not to make sudden travel plans and to prepare your trips in advance in order to help reduce the stress and the crowds.
RTA asserts that pre-planning is the only assurance for a reliable and trouble-free experience in places like Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Burj Khalifa, particularly during the peak holiday season when demand is high.
