The much-admired period drama Kaantha, featuring the likes of Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati, has been awarded the UA 13+ rating by CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) just in time for its major cinematic release on November 14. Film critics have said that the film has been given a good rating because of performance, visual impact and the quality of the story.
A Multilingual Period Film with a Tamil Filmic Influence
Kaantha, directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, is produced by Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan under their Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films banners. The film, though fictional, narrates some real events from the lives of great Tamil cinema figures like M. K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, M. G. Ramachandran (MGR), and M. R. Radha, as the filmmakers have pointed out.
Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati, Samuthirakani, Bhagyashree Bhorse, and Ravindra Vijay are the main cast of the film, among others. It will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi on the same day.
Censor Board Chronicles Up, Performances and Technical Solidity
As per the news, the film’s censor screening impressed the officials who praised it for being grand in visual and deep in emotional factors. Among those they appreciated were the actors, the background music and the cinematography.
The CBFC not only liked the film’s unique selling point and easy viewing but also made a statement that Kaantha is a visually most attractive as well as the owrst due to its technical skill.

Kaantha has been given UA 13+ rating, which means that the movie is free for viewers aged above 13 years, and children can see it only with their parents’ consent. The movie is 2 hours and 45 minutes long (165 minutes) and gets a lot of credit for keeping up with the fast pace while balancing the heavy emotions and the great story.
The film’s producers have survived through the early controversies about its supposed connections to real personalities and have officially declared that the film is completely imaginary and will be shown on the planned date.
