Cyclone Montha: Hyderabad Under Orange Alert as Heavy Rains Lash City

Hyderabad Weather Alert: Heavy Rain to Lash City Today — IMD Issues Warning

Hyderabad is facing an orange alert due to Cyclone Montha, which has caused heavy rains and strong winds in the area. The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TGDPS) has predicted that there will be very heavy rains in the next one day, especially in the southern regions of the city, thus causing urban flooding in low-lying areas.

Heavy Rain Predicted Across Hyderabad

As per TGDPS, the rainfall from 8:30 AM of October 28 to 8:30 AM of October 29 will be moderate to heavy in the major southern areas, which are Rajendranagar, Falaknuma, Chaderghat, Banjara Hills, and Hayathnagar.

On the other hand, light rains are going to be the only fall in the northern and central areas like Serilingampally, Gurramguda, and KPHB during the evening and night.

Authorities Urge Caution

The city authorities have made it a point to say that the orange alert has been placed so that people near rivers and in places that usually get flooded will keep a lookout. In addition, the disaster management teams are prepared at the ready, and the GHMC has also set up emergency lines to help the public.

Cyclonic Impact

Meteorologists have pinpointed Cyclone Montha as the cause of the sudden increase in rainfall activity. Montha has become more powerful over the Bay of Bengal and is now spreading its influence over the southern part of Telangana. The weather would be that of strong winds, cloudy skies, and short very intense rains on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Authorities have warned that commuters should only travel if absolutely necessary and should especially avoid roads near drains, underpasses, and waterlogged areas; the situation may deteriorate during the night.
