Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is still getting good responses as it crosses one week at the box office. The movie’s net collection on the ninth day was Rs 2.5 crores and gross income Rs 2.9 crores in India according to the industry’s estimates.
The action drama although received mixed reviews from the critics, has still been able to draw the same crowd. On the second Saturday of the film, Akhanda 2 was shown in nearly 815 places and 28.5 percent was the average occupancy.
Net collection of the movie in India after nine days of the theatrical release has reached ₹80.95 crore while the gross collection in India stands at ₹95.85 crore. On the worldwide level, Akhanda 2 has emerged with ₹107.85 crore, of which overseas market contribution is approximately ₹12 crore. Domestic collections have been the source of almost 89 percent of the total revenue.
Considering the trend of the last few days, the film made ₹3.8 crore on Day 5 and ₹2.9 crore on Day 6, with average collections for Days 7 and 8, then showing a slight increase on Day 9, which is a sign of steady interest in the movie.
ETimes while reviewing stated that Akhanda 2 has amazing visuals and mass appeal moments, but it has not been able to restore the emotional depth and narrative strength of the first part that made it a runaway success. The follow-up was labeled as ambitious but inconsistent in its realization.
