Nidadavolu Passengers Face Hassle as Superfast Trains Skip Key Junction

Nidadavolu railway junction with trains passing by, highlighting the lack of halts for superfast express services.

Though the Nidadavolu railway junction is a vibrant and bustling place, the major issue for commuters is a large number of the passing trains of the superfast express type, which limit the number of passengers getting on or off. Nidadavolu has become a central point for the railway line between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam and also where the branch lines from Bhimavaram and Gudivada terminate.

Nidadavolu, which was once in the West Godavari district, has now been incorporated into the East Godavari district and the Rajahmundry parliamentary constituency. Along with Nidadavolu, the junction is also used by the travelers from Kovvur, Gopalapuram, and Polavaram, thus creating a total of around 4,000 daily users contributing to the station’s revenue of up to Rs. 1.5 lakh per day.Currently, the number of trains that daily train services to and from the station is 68.

Long-standing Demand for Train Halts

For many years now, the passengers have been asking for the Janmabhoomi Superfast Express to stop at Nidadavolu. The train passes the station at 10 AM, and the people have to travel either to Rajamahendravaram or Tadepalligudem in order to catch the train due to the non-stop limit.

Other notable superfast trains missing a halt at Nidadavolu include:

  • Uday AC Double Decker (Kakinada to Mumbai)
  • Lokmanya Tilak Superfast Express / Kokanada (Kakinada to Secunderabad)
  • Falaknuma Express (Howrah to Mumbai)

Passengers still press the railway authorities to stop these trains at Nidadavolu by the reasons of convenience, revenue, and the increasing number of passengers in the nearby areas.
