tvN has released the very first teaser for the upcoming weekend drama “Undercover Ms. Hong,” starring Park Shin Hye in a daring and innovative manner.
Taking place in late 1990s, the drama revolves around Hong Geum Bo (Park Shin Hye), an elite financial supervisory officer who is about to turn 30 and goes undercover as a fresh 20-year-old employee at a securities firm because she has noticed some strange financial activities. What starts off as an easy mission soon develops into a cleverly narrated and lighthearted confrontation of the workplace and hidden identities.
The teaser starts with a flashback-style narration: “In 1997, a turn of the century era when female workers were merely called ‘Miss’ and dismissed without being named.” The narrative is set in the retro corporate environment of the drama.
Park Shin Hye is thus depicted as the quiet and sincere Miss Hong, with a bob haircut, crisp uniform, and a flustered expression, along with her rushing through office errands. However, behind her meekness lies a sharp-tongued and self-assured Hong Geum Bo, whose true identity momentarily appears on the screen—suggesting the undercover operation that is at the heart of the plot.
The teaser ends with the line, “‘Miss Hong,’ that ordinary title was the most perfect disguise created by the times,” teasing the double life she must navigate as she uncovers the truth behind the financial anomalies.
“Undercover Ms. Hong” promises a mix of humor, mystery, and social commentary, marking another exciting transformation for Park Shin Hye as she returns to the small screen.
