Railways Introduce Minor Train Timing Changes from January 1

Passengers check updated train schedules as Indian Railways implements timing changes from January 1.

Indian Railways will make slight modifications to train schedules throughout the nation effective January 1, 2026. Previously, shifts in schedules were usually made on July 1, but this year the changes are to be implemented right at the beginning of the year.

The overall reveal of train schedules all over the country for around 1,400 trains is likely to happen, and more than 80 trains in the South Central Railway (SCR) will be among those affected. The adjustments in timings will vary from 3 minutes to a maximum of 30 minutes. The complete list of all trains affected will be provided on the IRCTC website for the reference of the passengers.

The South Central Railway CPRO Rakesh has suggested passengers, who are going to travel after January 1, to check the train schedules early and arrange their reache at the station according to it. Besides, any passenger who has booked their ticket would be notified by SMS about the train timings change.

On the other hand, the re-development of Secunderabad Station has reached the last stage. During this, certain platforms will have train services temporarily ceased in availability and this will be done in phases over the next months. This might also lead to some train schedules getting rotated. Moreover, Charlapalli Terminal’s starting up has accounted for the operation of a few more trains from this terminal and even more in the near future, thus, resulting in small alterations in timing for certain trains.
