On Tuesday, Police Commemoration Day was observed with great solemnity at the Armed Reserve Police Grounds in Tirupati where the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty were remembered. The ceremony was conducted by the Tirupati District Police Department with District Collector Dr. S. Venkateswar as the chief guest and Superintendent of Police (SP) L. Subbarayudu presiding over the event.
The police personnel, district officials, staff members, and the families of the martyrs attended the memorial in large numbers to pay their respects to the brave ones who gave up their lives for the safety of the public and the peace of the nation. The officials made floral tributes to the memorial, and after that, a silence of two minutes was observed in honor of the deceased heroes.
In his speech, Dr. Venkateswar, the Collector, praised the police for their constant commitment to uphold law and order, and he even went so far as to call them “the society’s protective shield.”
“Police officers give their lives to protect the public, usually at the cost of their own comfort and family time. Their sacrifice has to be acknowledged forever, and it will keep the future generations inspired. The society should always support the families of these heroes,”
— Dr. S. Venkateswar, Collector of Tirupati District
SP L. Subbarayudu also appreciated the police force for their tireless efforts in serving the people’s safety and urged officers to practice the principles of courage, integrity, and service as their code of conduct.
