The first female Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra will take her oath on Saturday through a ceremony which will mark her historic inauguration into this position after her husband Ajit Pawar died in an airplane accident. The public has started to focus on her financial disclosures which she needs to complete before taking office.
Sunetra Pawar declared a total income of ₹4.22 crore for the financial year 2022-23 through her election affidavit which she submitted before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The 62-year-old leader declared total assets which included movable and immovable properties that exceeded ₹127 crore. The leader also reported his financial obligations which reached approximately ₹17 crore.
Assets at a Glance
The affidavit states Sunetra Pawar owns movable assets that are worth approximately ₹30.3 crore while her permanent assets total approximately ₹97 crore. Her total cash holdings amount to ₹7.3 lakh while her bank assets and savings total approximately ₹5.3 crore.
She possesses an automobile which has a value of ₹86 lakh and her financial portfolio contains shareholdings and bond investments that are estimated to be worth approximately ₹66 lakh. These include stakes in companies such as Baramati Agro Ltd, Venky’s (India) Limited, VIA Creation Pvt Ltd and Baramati Hi-Tech Textiles Park Ltd.
Jewellery Holdings
Sunetra Pawar’s affidavit shows that she owns jewellery which has a total value of approximately ₹1.3 crore. The total inventory consists of silver utensils which weigh 35 kilograms and have a value of approximately ₹25 lakh and gold ornaments which weigh 1,030 grams and have a worth of approximately ₹51 lakh and diamond jewellery which has an estimated value of ₹24 lakh.
Real Estate Portfolio
Her real estate holdings include a residential flat worth ₹4 crore in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar. She has also inherited a flat that has a value of ₹10 crore which is located in Pune’s Sindh Housing Society. In addition, she owns two more properties which include one property that is situated in Mumbai.
Political and Personal Background
Sunetra Pawar began her political career by working in unobserved roles before she decided to enter public view. Her environmental protection work dedication led her to establish the Environmental Forum of India EFOI which she founded in 2010 to increase environmental awareness through the organization.
She contested the Baramati constituency during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections against NCP SP leader Supriya Sule which resulted in her losing the election by approximately 1.5 lakh votes. She received election victory to the Rajya Sabha.
Sunetra Pawar will become the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra who will support the development of state political activities in the future.
