Ranveer Singh’s newest action-packed thriller Dhurandhar has been well-received by the audience but its overseas box office result is still greatly overshadowed by that of Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter. The movie received strong word of mouth but still, it made only 3.20 million USD in the first weekend, which is still very far from Fighter’s 5.30 million USD in international market.
The comparison draws attention because both films are big-budget action dramas built around patriotic themes and released without Middle East territories. However, Fighter’s global pull proved significantly stronger earlier this year.
Overseas Markets Reflect Clear Difference
Almost 90% of Dhurandhar’s earnings came from four key markets—the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK. The film grossed:
- USD 1.35 million – United States
- USD 640,000 – Canada
- USD 400,000 – Australia
- USD 405,000 – United Kingdom
The remaining USD 410,000 came from Europe, New Zealand, and other regions.
While these numbers reflect a steady weekend trend, the lower starting point means the film will need exceptional long-term performance to approach Fighter’s total.
Why Fighter Stayed Ahead
The movie Fighter reaped the rewards of international superstars Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone sharing the screen, plus the director Siddharth Anand’s winning streak after Pathaan. Global viewers adored the aerial fight scenes and the film’s patriotic theme.
By contrast, Dhurandhar, despite Ranveer Singh’s strong performance and Aditya Dhar’s direction, could not generate the same initial overseas momentum.
