Thamma is a horror-mystery romantic comedy and a part of the popular Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The film is directed by Munjya fame Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. Ayushmann Khurrana plays the role of journalist Alok and Rashmika Mandanna as Tadaka did, yet which still mesmerized everyone with her stirring performance.
The film came out in cinemas during the Diwali celebrations on October 21 and it became one of the most successful films at the global box office, raking in more than ₹220 crore. After the film’s run in theatres, it was available on Amazon Prime Video, where it was first shown on rent in Telugu and Hindi. What Is ‘Thamma’ About?
The story follows Alok Goyal, a journalist who travels to a hilly region with his friends for news coverage. During the trip, he is attacked by a bear and is rescued by Tadaka, a mysterious young woman. Tadaka belongs to a supernatural tribe with vampire-like traits and extraordinary powers.
The tribe’s leader, Yakshasan, also known as Thamma (played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui), has been imprisoned in a cave for decades due to a grave mistake he committed. When Alok enters their secret world, the tribe attempts to punish him, but Tadaka protects him. As love blossoms between Alok and Tadaka, she leaves her tribe to live among humans.
