The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have officially released a statement on the rumours of a trade between Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson, reassuring the fans that Jadeja is very much part of the franchise ahead of the mini-auction for IPL 2026.
Jadeja Retention Confirmed
CSK posted a video on their official X account showing Jadeja executing his typical sword celebration in the distinctive yellow jersey. This little bit of an unspoken message loud and clear-that Jadeja is not going anywhere.
The 36-year-old all-rounder, Jadeja had an impressive year in 2025, contributing brilliantly with both the bat and ball. Jadeja is expected to again play a big role under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad as CSK begins its rebuild for next season.
Samson Trade Talks Continue
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals (RR) are in the trade matrix for their captain Sanju Samson. Delhi Capitals are rumoured to have denied releasing Tristan Stubbs, causing a potential deal to fall off.
With CSK getting into the picture, sources say that MS Dhoni, Kasi Viswanathan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Stephen Fleming are in the process of evaluating Samson as a possibility. RR, meanwhile, is having them talk with KKR, DC, and LSG, making things quite open-ended.
CSK Backup Options: Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul
If the Samson deal does not go through, CSK could switch their attention toward Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul for their wicketkeeping options. Even though KL Rahul is expected to stay with DC, Ishan Kishan, if released by Sunrisers Hyderabad, could just be the main target there for the franchise in the mini-auction.
CSK Rebuild After Tough Season in 2025
After finishing last in the 2025 IPL table, this CSK is very keen on rebuilding a team with a mix of both youth and experience. The management is supposedly very impressed by upcoming youngsters like Ayush Mhatre and Dewald Brevis and is planning on getting the franchise back to its zenith in IPL 2026.
