During the early hours of Thursday, three people were injured in an episode of crowd stampede at Shivneri Fort near Pune in Maharashtra in the presence of a crowd of thousands who had gathered on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, police officials stated.
Incident Amid Heavy Rush
The incident took place at around 3:30 am in the Meena Darwaja area in Junar tehsil. While coming down in a roaring march, one group from the fort with a dhwaj found that due to much crowd, Judiciary police at Pune Rural chided them to bring down the speed. “An individual upper-side pushed an individual moving in support. This has led to around four-five people falling from the rear. Three people must have injuries in their legs,” stated SP Sandip Singh Gill.
“There was a queue arranged outside. Accordingly, the police intervened and on-scene personnel guard onto the queue,” Mr. Singh Gill said.
At once, the police personnel at the scene attended to the wounded ones and managed the relocated audience in a bid to prevent any subsequent incident of like nature. Additional security is now standing steady, and the visitation is yet smooth.
