Donald Trump, the US president, has lashed out at the Super Bowl LX halftime show, saying the Puerto Rican headlined performance by Bad Bunny was “horrible”, it ranks among the worst performances in Super Bowl history.
Social networks crackled with all kinds of reactions to the halftime show, which featured artists mixing genres, tapping deeper into Latin music, and also high-paced street-type choreographed dancing.
Trump raised concerns over the performance and the headlining artist, saying that the just-concluded performance was wrong with regard to what he viewed as American values and standards.
“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children watching across the U. S. A. and around the world,” Trump wrote. He then went on to say that the halftime show was a slap in the face to one of the best countries while implying that mainstream media would be biased in praise of the performance.
Using the post as a launch pad, Trump mentioned National Football League controversies, saying, “Aside from their ridiculous recent rule regarding kickoffs.”
Nevertheless, despite such backlash, performances were considered a positive celebration of intertwined Latin music, culture, and Bad Bunny; that stage was given its newfound, suspenseful, high-energy, urban-style reminiscence.
Performed post-grammy weeks before, Bad Bunny took Album of the Year honors on Making History. In his acceptance speech, he bashed Trump’s immigration policies, gaining him loud applause from the audience.
In this matter, the comments of the former president led to a recent online debate, with the Super Bowl performance being a landmark occasion for Latino representation at one of the most-watched sporting events in the world.
