The film starring Vijay, Jana Nayagan has received great relief from the Madras High Court which ordered the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to give the movie a U/A certificate. The ruling was made on Friday, hence the release of the movie in theaters was unknotted by a major barrier.
According to the sources, Jana Nayagan was initially when it came to the cinema board was already in December 2022. The censor board was said to have demanded the cutting of some scenes and reduction in the volume of some dialogues. The producers made the changes and resubmitted the film but the board did not respond. Due to this inconvenience, the studio KVN Productions went to the Madras High Court asking for emergency help.
It came out in the trial that the CBFC had at one time suggested a U/A certificate but then the film was sent to a review committee. The judge, while questioning this step, asked why the film was sent for further assessment after already being considered suitable for U/A certification. The court subsequently ordered the board to immediately grant the certificate that was initially recommended.
Meanwhile, the censor board has reportedly challenged the single judge’s order and filed a writ petition before the Chief Justice’s bench of the Madras High Court, seeking an urgent hearing.
Despite this, the latest verdict has effectively cleared the path for Jana Nayagan’s release. The delay in the matter of certification became the primary reason for the postponement of the movie, which was earlier scheduled to come out in theaters on January 9. A rumor has it that the makers have chosen January 14, the occasion of Sankranthi, as the new date for the film’s release but it is still necessary to wait for the official announcement.
Jana Nayagan is an action thriller crafted by H. Vinod where Vijay takes center stage. Besides, the story is also supported by Pooja Hegde, Mamita Baiju, and Prakash Raj, who have played very important parts. The film has gained the attention of the audience even before it is released.
