Telangana is going to get another airport in a significant way that will change the picture of infrastructure and the economy in the whole region. The new airport in Warangal, called the Mamunur Airport, is expected to bring about remarkable changes in North Telangana, making it easier to travel and thus raising the area’s economic activity.
The area where the Mamunur Airport is planned is being built very fast and the land acquisition has gone on successfully. The government of the state has already paid the farmers with compensation and the matter regarding the land acquisition has been legally cleared.
Right now, the only airports in Telangana are Shamshabad and Begumpet but with Warangal Airport coming up, the aerial infrastructure of the state will be broadened significantly. Mamunur has been an airport’s wish list for years and now the project is just about to pass a significant milestone.
According to sources, the inauguration of the airport is probably going to happen in January with the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the Chief Minister of Telangana A. Revanth Reddy. The government of the state has a plan to complete the construction process and make the airport operational by the year 2027, providing it with state-of-the-art, luxurious amenities. Besides, the undertaking is another part of Telangana’s larger plan to make air travel accessible from non-preferable cities.
Land Acquisition Completed
The government has taken a total of 950 acres for the airport project. Out of this, 696.14 acres were already secured and the rest of 253 acres were acquired recently. The farmers were paid at the rate of ₹1.20 crores per acre which helped in the smooth acquisition without any disputes. The land has been given to the Airports Authority now.
Indian Airlines’ Hyderabad Manager B.V. Rao inspected the airport site recently. According to the officials, the new airport will be a boon to the forthcoming projects in the area like the IT Park and Kakatiya Textile Park, thus making Warangal an even more attractive location for industries and businesses.
Boost to Tourism and Employment
Warangal is a city that is not only rich in culture but also has many places of historical importance, landmarks like the Ramappa Temple, the Thousand Pillar Temple, the Warangal Fort which have been recognized and certified by UNESCO. The operation of the airport is presumed to attract a large number of tourists who, in turn, will be the main factor for these cultural sites to gain much exposure.
The flow of tourists will be increasing and the transportation will be facilitated to a great extent. Also, the hospitality and transportation sectors are going to enjoy the boost, which should bring about the creation of thousands of job openings and spread the overall development through Warangal and the adjacent districts of North Telangana.
