Telangana Road Accident: 17 Killed, Including Infant, as Lorry Collides with RTC Bus in Chevella

In the vicinity of Chevella, Telangana, a very tragic road accident killed at least 17 persons, including a three-month-old baby. A speeding lorry was on the wrong side and lends his eagle eye to crash into a Telangana State RTC bus on Monday morning.

The fatal accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on the Vikarabad–Hyderabad Highway near the Mirjaguda-Khanapur Road. As per the Cyberabad Police, 16 passengers died on the spot, while one died of injuries later. The bodies of the dead were shifted to Area Hospital, Chevella, for autopsy.

Wrong Side Lorry Causes Fatal Head-On Collision

The preliminary investigations revealed that the lorry with registration number TG06T3879 was on the wrong side when it came crashing head-on with the RTC bus (TS34 TA 6354). The crash was so grave that the front portion of both vehicles was completely smashed, with several passengers trapped inside the bus.

The rescue and police operations reached the accident spot, whereby passengers trapped in the wreckage were liberated. Some injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals for quick medical aid.

Traffic Block, CM Revanth Reddy Orders Probe

Traffic remained blocked on the busy Vikarabad–Hyderabad road for over two hours due to the accident. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his deep sorrow at the loss of life and ordered the officers concerned to ensure that the treatment of the injured persons should be beyond all considerations in Hyderabad.

Authorities are currently trying to ascertain the exact cause of the collision, including whether any negligence or overspeeding by the driver was involved.
