IPL 2026: Josh Inglis Joins Lucknow Super Giants Amid PBKS Criticism

Josh Inglis joins Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026 auction amid PBKS owner's criticism.

Inglis, the Australian wicket-keeper batsman, has garnered around him the IPL 2026 mini-auction spotlight. Despite his availability for just four matches due to personal reasons, the Lucknow Super Giants player has been everybody’s talk as they bagged him for a stunning ₹8.6 crore.

Competing to win Inglis, Sunrisers Hyderabad was very aggressive but the Australians had earlier made it known that he would marry in April 2026. He said to Punjab Kings (PBKS) that he would only participate in four IPL matches, which resulted in their decision to release him to the auction market rather than keep him.

Postponed Honeymoon?
Rumors now indicate that the cricketer might have had a change of heart. He is said to be considering a honeymoon delay after his wedding on April 18 and then straight to the Lucknow team, although he may still be missing the early IPL matches.

Ness Wadia, the co-owner of PBKS, slammed Inglis for his previous engagement. “It was our intention to hold on to Josh Inglis for the season, but merely 45 minutes before the cut-off time for keeping players, he expressed his reasons to us. He let us know that owing to his getting married soon and honeymoon, he would be available for just three games.”” So we had no choice but to propound him. It’s unprofessional, but I wish him luck. He is a marvelous player and has done well for Australia. Now let’s see whether or not he plays the entire IPL,” Wadia remarked.

Price Surge and Previous Performance
In IPL 2025, the mega-auction was the platform to buy Inglis by PBKS at a price of ₹2.60 crore. His performance was then extraordinary and he scored 278 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 162.57, and thus, his purchase price was justified. Now his earning is ₹8.60 crore, which means an amazing increase of almost 231% over the auction value of the player.
