IPL 2026: Jack Edwards Emerges as SRH’s ‘Diamond’ After Stunning BBL Performance

SRH’s new signing Jack Edwards celebrates a five-wicket haul for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s newest recruit Jack Edwards is beginning to impress already in IPL 2026. The young all-rounder purchased by SRH for ₹3 crore at the recent auction had a terrific display in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26 which was the basis of the franchise’s endorsement.

Edwards while representing the Sydney Sixers produced a match-winning bowling effort against the Sydney Thunder. In the course of a huge chasing target of 199, the Thunder’s innings were destroyed due to Edwards’ extraordinary bowling. The 25-year-old all-rounder took five raiders in only 26 runs through his four overs, obliterating the other team’s batting order.

To begin with, after the Sydney Thunder opted to field, the Sixers who were the first at bat, made a whopping score of 198/5 in 20 overs. Josh Philippe played a remarkable innings of 96 while Babar Azam contributed a nicely timed 58, forming the base for a huge score.

Big stars, David Warner, Sam Billings, and Shadab Khan, among others, were Edwards’ victims. The batsmen could not handle the pressure and collapsed resulting in Sydney Thunder going for 151 in 19.1 overs and thus a significant 47-run win for the Sixers.

When it came to the IPL 2026 auction, SRH had a tough time against franchises such as Chennai Super Kings, however, the management led by Kavya Maran did not hesitate to go the extra mile to obtain Edwards. The recent exploits of the player only came to bolster the belief that SRH have discovered a true diamond.

Jack Edwards is quickly becoming a crowd pleaser with his dual-size bat and ball contribution. Cricket experts consider his present form as a potential game-changer for SRH once IPL 2026 kicks off.
