By making the Anna Canteen scheme accessible to the rural areas, the Andhra Pradesh government has given a special gift to its rural population on the occasion of Sankranti. This initiative, which was previously confined to urban areas, now seeks to supply inexpensive meals to those residing in rural areas thus fulfilling a promise that has long been made.
The government has directed that the setup of the canteen in the chosen 70 rural areas should be done by the time of Sankranti and the process has already begun. Each canteen will be selling breakfast, lunch, and dinner at just ₹5 per meal, thus sticking to the affordability model that has made Anna Canteens very popular in towns and cities.
The Anna Canteens which the coalition government reopened have so far provided more than 7.2 crore meals through over 205 urban outlets and catered to about 2 lakh people daily. It is anticipated that the new rural outlets would be ready to serve meals between January 13th to 15th, with all construction wrapped up by January 10th.
With this move, the whole of rural Andhra Pradesh will have the chance to get these low-priced, nutritious meals now available across constituency and mandal centers of the government welfare initiatives.
