James Cameron, the director behind several of the best Hollywood movies ever made, has left an unparalleled footprint and formed a consistent pattern of great and massive productions with films like The Terminator, Titanic and Avatar, among others. Cameron is characterized by his determination to break cinematic barriers as well as his creation of the most entertaining worlds, consequently, he has been the chief executive of record-breaking box office success together with many Oscar wins. The movie he made in 2009, named Avatar, was a turning point in visual storytelling and is still in the ranks of the most successful films ever in the world.
The very first Avatar movie was a big surprise to the people who went to the cinema and the film worldwide with its fantastic visuals and the creative idea of the planet Pandora. Even after years from its first show, no film has ever been able to surpass its box office revenue and this has been a sign of Cameron’s creative skills in making films. The eagerly awaited sequel Avatar: The Way of Water was released in December 2022 and it was like the first movie was a little bit revived. Besides the large-scale ocean for many kids and the breathtaking underwater scenery, the film pulled in lots of money worldwide.
Not only that, but Cameron also took the chance and released the third film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, along with this great success. But to the contrary, the film has not received good reviews like its two prequels and one of the reasons is that it was already predicted. Even though the movie came out to the world on December 19, it was labeled and thus critiqued as a never-ending story by the viewers who also described it as an average production that could not reach the same heights emotionally as the previous parts did.
Reports have surfaced that James Cameron is having second thoughts about the franchise’s future owing to the negative reviews of Avatar: Fire and Ash. The director talked to Entertainment Weekly in an interview and said that he may be the one to finally decide not to make Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, the pretended next chapters of the tale, after all.
As rumored, Cameron is now working on concentrating on creating a brand-new universe, thus he is temporarily putting aside the Avatar saga. There have been no formal statements, but it is anticipated that we will soon have a better understanding of what will happen with the franchise.
