The highly anticipated trailer for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana got pushed back just a few hours, before it was supposed to be unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, and honestly fans are feeling let down, with strong reactions popping up on social media again and again, almost like one after another.

Producer Namit Malhotra said late Thursday night that the trailer, which was first planned to go live globally at 8 AM (IST), will now arrive later. Still, no fresh release time or revised launch date was shared, so it’s unclear what people should put down on their calendars.

This last minute shift has led to a lot of online guessing. Many fans are worried about chatter that some of the footage shown to a small group may have leaked prior to the official release.

Fans react to disappointment over the sudden hold

Soon after the update, social platforms filled up with posts and comments, where viewers questioned why the premiere suddenly got postponed like that, and what exactly happened behind the scenes.

One fan page dedicated to actress Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita in the film, said it understood that large scale productions can face unforeseen challenges but still criticized the timing of the announcement.

The fan page also claimed that while the trailer had been screened for a limited audience, some attendees allegedly failed to safeguard the content, leading to “valuable assets” beginning to leak online. It added that loyal fans, and the wider audience, were left waiting despite months of anticipation.

Several other users echoed similar sentiments, urging the makers to offer clarity on the new release date.

One fan wrote that delaying the trailer without an explanation only frustrates audiences who have patiently waited for the film’s promotional campaign. Another asked the production team to announce a revised schedule instead of leaving fans guessing.

After the postponement, Namit Malhotra posted a short update on social media, saying, “The youth of our country are our future… let’s do the best we can to protect our future.”

The producer did not go into the exact cause behind the delay, so fans kept guessing, wondering if the call was tied to the reported leaks, or maybe to other production concerns.
