Sunrisers Eastern Cape swept Pretoria Capitals off their feet and secured their second consecutive victory with a stunning margin of 48 runs during the SA20 2025–26 season game held on Monday.Additionally, a bonus point came as a gift from the fortune to Sunrisers.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape made it hard for the opponents by scoring a gigantic total of 188 runs after surrendering 6 wickets in the full 20 overs. The team’s most prolific batsman and the opener, Quinton de Kock, again, was the one with the golden touch, dealing out a spectacular score of 77 runs off 47 balls, which contained 5 fours and 6 sixes. Breetzke, who made 52 runs vis-à-vis 33 balls, and Hermann, who scored 37 runs off 20 balls, were the major contributors to the innings.
The terrifying bowler of the Pretoria Capitals was Tymal Mills who got two wickets in his first over, while Lungi Ngidi and Lubbe were just short of the latter’s luck with one wicket each.
The Pretoria Capitals fell short of the difficult target of 189 and thus were bowled out for a pathetic total of 140 in merely 18 overs. Adam Milne who was the best bowler for the Sunrisers took four wickets the most. Rathnayake captured two, whereas Marco Jansen and Muthusamy shared one wicket apiece.
In the innings of Pretoria, Shai Hope was the highest scorer with 36, but the other two, Smid (35) and Rutherford (25) couldn’t do more than just showing a bit of resistance and hence they couldn’t stop the losing side.
As a matter of fact, Sourav Ganguly, the ex-captain of India and now the head coach of Pretoria Capitals, he had just lost two games in a row in the tournament as a coach.
The pairing of back-to-back victories along with a bonus point has allowed Sunrisers Eastern Cape not only to keep their position in but also to strengthen it in the SA20 league table.
