After recent speculations regarding a phone with an extra-large battery, OnePlus has made it clear that its new Turbo 6 smartphone series will be launched, with the Turbo 6 series of OnePlus being the one to announce, coming on January 8 in Beijing, as the company has revealed through its official Weibo account.
The new series is going to have two phones — one being the OnePlus Turbo 6 and the other being the OnePlus Turbo 6V. These two smartphones are going to come with a massive 9,000mAh battery, thus enabling the users to have more than two days of usage at a stretch in normal conditions.
The battery size has been kept the same for both models but the two devices will have completely different hardware. The OnePlus Turbo 6 flagship model is expected to come with a state-of-the-art Snapdragon 8 series processor along with a triple camera arrangement at the rear. Conversely, it is rumored that the Turbo 6V will feature only one camera at the back and a mid-range Snapdragon 7 series processor.
The regular OnePlus Turbo 6 is rumored to be outfitted with a display supporting 1.5K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate. Moreover, it will reportedly possess the best reliability traits, with resistance ratings of IP68, IP69, and IP69K for water and dust. The device is said to be equipped with Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the latest Qualcomm processor, as its brain.
The OnePlus Turbo 6 is likely to come with 80W fast wired charging support and may offer reverse wired charging up to 27W, thus allowing it to charge other devices, iaw charging.
So far, not much is known about the OnePlus Turbo 6V. The company hasn’t shared any data on its display or the specific Snapdragon chip they are using, apart from the large battery and dual-camera setup. These specifics are likely to be made available before the official launch in January.
OnePlus also launched OnePlus 15R series in India to bolster its presence in the high-end smartphone segment earlier last month.
