Reforms, Execution and Transformation Drive Progress: PM Modi

The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday insisted that reform, implementation, and transformation are the main pillars supporting the country’s development as he presided over the 50th meeting of the PRAGATI (Proactive Governance and Timely Implementation) platform.

While highlighting the effects of the platform, the Prime Minister pointed out that PRAGATI has supervised projects worth nearly ₹85 lakh crore in the past ten years, which is an outstanding achievement that has not only removed old problems but also accelerating the progress of development. He termed PRAGATI as a vibrant illustration of the concept of cooperative federalism, which has united the Centre and states in the execution of the major initiatives on time.

Modi examined major infrastructure projects related to roads, railways, power, water resources, and the coal sector during the meeting. He also told the chief secretaries of the states to keep a close eye on the implementation of the PM SHRI scheme.

The Prime Minister presented the roadmap for the second phase of reforms saying that guiding principles should be reform simplification, delivering results efficiently, and enhancing effectiveness through evolution. He insisted that time, cost, and quality must all be considered as the basic standards in judging project performance.

Modi pointed out that the PRAGATI mechanism has played a major role in turning around and completing some of the projects which had been stuck for decades, reinforcing its position as a catalyst for quicker governance and continuous development.
