With the onset of the New Year 2026, OTT platforms have begun to bring in new content as a way of entertaining the viewers. Among this festive atmosphere, a new Tamil sports drama web series directed by the famous filmmaker, LBW – Love Beyond Wicket, was released today, i.e., January 1, coinciding with New Year. The series is also made available for the audience in Telugu.
The digital release of the sports drama is on JioHotstar, which is one of the most popular OTT platforms. The series was planned as a multi-language offering and is now available to the viewers in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, thus covering a broad range of the Indian audience.
Four Episodes Released
The first season of LBW – Love Beyond Wicket has been launched with its first four episodes, all of which came out today. The strategy being followed by the directors involves a once-a-week release of episodes following the initial release.
Storyline
The series is an ideal mix of love and sports, revolving around the character Rangan, played by Tamil superstar Vikrant. Rangan is a remarkable cricketer with the dream of being the best in the world and bringing India the fame it deserves. However, fate intervenes and his career takes a different route, which leads him to give up professional cricket.
A New Journey as a Coach
Unable to accept his dream being shattered, Rangan decides to become the coach of an unsuccessful local cricket team called Muthu Nagar. The team has no discipline, no direction, and no ambition. Rangan’s attempts at changing the players’ mindsets, giving them a reason to play, and working on their confidence are the main theme of the series combined with his personal problems and a love story that is developing.
Cast and Crew
Niyati Kadambi, Sindhu Shyam, Harish, Ayaz Khan, among others, share major parts in the series along with Vikrant. The movie LBW – Love Beyond Wicket is helmed by Ganesh Karthikeyan.
