About Pongal

Pongal in Tamil Nadu, a harvest- focused holiday to be celebrated until early Makarsankranti, stretches for four days. The word “Pongal” refers to “boiling over” indicating plenty. This edification of still life in clay also speaks of abundance, of nothing left in the pot on the return.

2. Thai Pongal (January 14)
Thai Pongal, the main day of the Pongal festival, falls in the tenth month of the Tamil calendar.
