Prabhas’ much-anticipated film The Raja Saab is all set to hit theatres on January 9, and the buzz around the release continues to grow. After a prolonged wait, the pan-India entertainer has already made a strong start at the box office through advance bookings, signalling a promising opening day.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, The Raja Saab has collected Rs 5.66 crore in advance bookings in India as of Thursday evening. The film is scheduled to run across 9,034 shows nationwide, reflecting its wide release strategy and strong demand among fans.
The film is releasing in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam, while overseas markets are also responding positively. As per Venky Box Office reports, The Raja Saab has earned $1,030,538 (approximately Rs 9.27 crore) from advance sales in the United States alone, with 37,546 tickets sold across 1,784 shows in 526 locations by Thursday afternoon. Trade expectations suggest the film could register an opening of around Rs 65 crore worldwide.
Ticket Price Relief Boosts Prospects
Ahead of its release, The Raja Saab received a significant boost on the ticket pricing front. The Telangana High Court overturned an earlier restriction on ticket price hikes, leaving the decision to the discretion of the state government. The court noted that such price increases are generally reserved for major big-budget releases like Pushpa 2, Game Changer, OG and Akhanda 2, while The Raja Saab was termed a comparatively low-budget project.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government approved a ticket price hike for the film, allowing an increase of Rs 150 in single-screen theatres and Rs 200 in multiplexes for a period of 10 days from the release date.
Cast, Crew and Certification
Directed and written by Maruthi, The Raja Saab is produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment. The film has reportedly been made on a budget of around Rs 300 crore. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted the film a U/A certificate, with reports suggesting certain gory scenes were trimmed, including the removal of a beheading sequence.
Alongside Prabhas, the film features Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan—making her Telugu debut—Riddhi Kumar, and Zarina Wahab in key roles.
