IPL 2026: Full List of Head Coaches for All 10 Teams Ahead of New Season

Head coaches of IPL franchises gear up for the 2026 season as teams prepare for another high-voltage T20 campaign.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is set to begin on March 26. All ten franchises have also selected their head coaches for the new season. The big auctions and new game plans have only added to the hype of the upcoming T20 season, which is going to be nothing but the same high-octane T20 excitement, and the head coach will still be the most commanding persona in the process— directing the team tactics, players, and the entire tournament.

As for most of the franchises, they have opted for the existing coaches by keeping the status quo. However, the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals have made major changes before the start of the new season. The head coaches for the IPL 2026 are as follows:

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – Stephen Fleming

The famed New Zealander Stephen Fleming is still the head coach of CSK, and will be with the franchise for his 18th season. The longest coach ever in IPL history, Fleming has been a key player in the multiple title winning of CSK and is still the basic support of team’s continuous success.

Mumbai Indians (MI) – Mahela Jayawardene

Mahela Jayawardene the former captain of Sri Lanka continues as the head coach of the five-time champions. Following a brief period of ‘lean’ heaving the team ups and downs, Jayawardene’s target will be a return to win glory in IPL 2026.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – Andy Flower

The Zimbabwean superstar and former England coach Andy Flower remains in charge of RCB. His brilliant tactical approach resulted in 2025 when RCB won their first IPL title and the expectations for a successful season are again this time.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – Abhishek Nayar

KKR, a three-time IPL champion, has given the post of the new head coach to Abhishek Nayar. He is going to succeed Chandrakant Pandit after the 2025 season. Nayar, who joined the KKR support staff last year, is now promoted to top position just before the IPL 2026.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) – Kumar Sangakkara

Kumar Sangakkara has been given the role of head coach and at the same time is the Director of Cricket. Sangakkara who was RR’s coach from 2021 to 2024, saw a constant development that included a runner-up position in IPL 2022 and a return to playoffs in 2024.

Gujarat Titans (GT) – Ashish Nehra

The former Indian pacer, Ashish Nehra, continues to be the head coach of Gujarat Titans. Under his guidance, GT have become one of the strongest contenders in the last few seasons, and Nehra will be gunning for the third IPL title in 2026.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) – Ricky Ponting

Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting is still the head coach of Punjab Kings after a successful 2025 season that brought PBKS their first playoff appearance in many years. Ponting’s strategy for 2026 will be to lead the team to its first IPL crown.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) – Daniel Vettori

Ex-captain of New Zealand Daniel Vettori remains the head coach of SRH. Vettori, who is recognized for promoting a bold style of play, has made SRH stay on the map and even more so, throughout the last seasons.

Delhi Capitals (DC) – Hemang Badani

Hemang Badani continues to be the head coach of the Delhi Capitals even though 2025 was not a good year for them. DC started well with four consecutive victories but they could not maintain their pace. The franchise has backed Badani to deliver a better and stronger side in IPL 2026.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) – Justin Langer

The previous Australian team’s mentor Justin Langer is still running LSG. He got Bharat Arun as the new bowling coach and Carl Crowe as the new spin consultant for IPL 2026, and that really made up for the coaching staff.

With the IPL 2026 countdown well and truly on, the mentioned coaches will determine the fate of their respective lineups in this assuredly exciting season of the biggest and most popular T20 league in the world.
