Actor Ahan Shetty, who is currently working on his upcoming film Border 2, has made a comment regarding the ongoing comparisons between him and the young talent Ahaan Panday, arguing that social media is creating unhealthy competition among their age group.
While promoting Border 2, Ahan mentioned that the industry is being divided in an unjust manner through the online platforms which post and showcase very short snippets of the actors and incite the viewers to judge and compare them instantly. He insisted that he and Ahaan Panday have no actual rivalry, and that the supposed competition is a mere creation of the public’s imagination.
Ahan Shetty on Social Media Creating Divides
In an interview with Bombay Times, Ahan said that people tend to form opinions based on “2-3 second clips,” which leads to constant comparisons. He added:
“We’re being put up against each other… I know there are comparisons between Ahaan Panday and me. I know that guy. I know how hard he’s worked for his film… There’s no competition between us. We have our own careers.”
He went on to stress that the sector ought to put mutual respect and support in the first place and not competition. Ahan contends that social media has made a separation that stops the actors from being openly supportive of one another.
On Nepotism and His Career Journey
Ahan’s first feature was Tadap in 2021, which raked in ₹35 crore against a budget of ₹27 crore. He has been frequently criticized concerning the issue of nepotism, as he is the offspring of renowned actor Suniel Shetty.
Reflecting on the challenges, he said:
“It’s been a long journey since Tadap… The nepotism debate comes up a lot. I’ve always accepted it… I focus on giving my director and producer my 200 per cent.”
