Cricket fans from all over the globe will begin watching cricket matches which take place in the subcontinent because the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 tournament will start on February 7. The 10th tournament will take place in India and Sri Lanka and its final match will be held on March 8.
The T20 World Cup tournament will feature 20 teams which will compete in 54 matches to create the biggest T20 World Cup event which has ever been staged.
Teams and Groups
The ICC has maintained the same 20-team structure which it originally established during the 2024 tournament. Bangladesh withdrew from the tournament because security problems prevented their travel to India which allowed Scotland to take their place in the competition.
The teams are divided into four groups which each contain five members.

Tournament Format
The T20 World Cup 2026 will take place on three occasions:
- Group Stage: February 7 – 20
- Super 8: February 21 – March 1
- Knockout Stage: Semifinals on March 4 & 5, Final on March 8
The Super 8 round will receive its two advancing teams from every group. An outline pattern to split those eight teams into two groups with four teams in each case. Two teams to play in the semifinals shall be determined by the Super 8 stage.

The Indian cricket team needs to achieve semifinal status. The Pakistan team will compete at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo for their upcoming match dedicated to their fourth semifinal appearance at the tournament.
