The foldable iPhone which Apple has been rumored to create now shows the first evidence of its existence through design and hardware details which have been leaked. The latest information shows that iPhone Fold will include an all-black camera module and a new button design which differs from current iPhone models.
iPhone Fold may sport an all-black camera module
Apple will launch its first foldable iPhone in 2023 according to recent leaks which provide information about the upcoming device. Tipster Instant Digital on Weibo claims that the iPhone Fold will feature a camera “plateau” similar to the iPhone Air but with a key visual twist. The camera module will have an all-black finish which differs from the phone’s body color according to reports.
The camera setup will include two rear cameras which face horizontally together with a microphone and LED flash. The darker camera strip follows the design pattern used in recent iPad Pro products which gives Apple its first foldable device a unique and high-end appearance.
The foldable iPhone will launch with a limited selection of colors. White is reportedly the only confirmed shade so far though Apple is expected to add at least one more color variant when the device officially debuts.
Revised button placement for a cleaner design
The leak shows that Apple plans to change button locations on the iPhone Fold. The volume buttons will move to the top edge of the device where they will be located toward the right side according to design specifications which match the iPad mini.
The phone will have its Touch ID power button and Camera Control button located on the right side according to the design used in recent iPhone models. The left edge will have no buttons which creates a minimalist design that enhances visual appeal.
The new layout design will make it easier for users to operate the device because it enables them to switch between folded and unfolded modes while maintaining a slim design.
The iPhone Fold will have a reduced Dynamic Island size which uses a single punch-hole front camera design. The device will not include Face ID functionality because manufacturers need to control thickness which creates problems for foldable smartphones.
Display performance and cameras
The foldable iPhone is expected to come with a 7.8-inch inner OLED display which has no visible creases. The outer display of the device will measure 5.5 inches which makes it the most compact screen size used in contemporary iPhones.
The device will use Apple’s A20 Pro chipset which will make its first appearance with the iPhone 18 Pro series. The phone will feature four cameras which include two rear cameras and two front-facing cameras for selfies and video calls.
The foldable iPhone will contain Apple’s biggest iPhone battery which will likely exceed 5,500mAh capacity.
Expected launch timeline and price
The iPhone Fold will launch in September 2026 according to reports which state it will release simultaneously with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The device will have a premium price which is estimated to cost around $2,400 which converts to approximately ₹2.15 lakh in the United States.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has its starting price set at ₹1,74,999 which applies to the Indian market. Apple is developing a flip-style iPhone which will join its current book-style foldable iPhone project of which details have surfaced.
