Police officials confirmed that Punjab Aam Aadmi Party leader Lucky Oberoi suffered fatal gunshot wounds on Friday morning when he stood outside a gurdwara in Jalandhar’s Model Town area.

Unidentified assailants riding a two-wheeler allegedly opened fire on him, discharging at least five rounds. The bullets shattered the vehicle’s windows, which resulted in critical injuries to Oberoi.

Doctors at a Jalandhar hospital declared him dead after he arrived with fatal injuries.

After the shooting incident occurred, law enforcement officers established a strong security presence at the location. Investigators started their work by establishing area blockades to gather CCTV material from nearby locations which helped them find the named suspects.

The police investigation encompasses multiple investigation paths according to senior police officials. Investigators examine possible motives which include personal enmity and political rivalry. Police teams are working to identify the assailants and arrest them at the earliest.
