Search for Missing Nancy Guthrie Enters Sixth Day as Investigators Review New Message

Law-enforcement officials said on Friday that a hitherto unknown message has been presented in an ongoing investigation into the disappearance and suspected kidnapping of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of US television journalist Savannah Guthrie, from her Arizona home.

“On April 23, the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced in a joint statement that they are currently examining the new-found message while determining how authentic it was, but they themselves refrained from disclosing the specifics regarding the content or communication source wherein it was found, just as “the one new word of information” named in the ongoing case,” the statement said.

This comes a day after the family of Nancy Guthrie asked concretely for the party in possession of her to speak with them and give them a proof of how she is faring, followed by the release of what investigations suspect to be a ransom note in exchange for millions in BTC.

Missed Deadlines

Local police stated that the first of two deadlines in the ransom note sent on February 3 passed without incident Thursday evening. The second deadline is on Monday, 9 February.

The Tucson KOLD-TV station, which received both the original ransom note and the new communication, stated that it forwarded the latest message to authorities together with the related internet protocol (IP) address. The station is adopting a hands-off policy on the specifics out of respect to the family but noted that the message seemed constructed to relate it to the preceding ransom demands.

Family Appeals for Contact

Nancy Guthrie was last seen by relatives on January 31 after dropping her near her Tucson home for dinner. She was reported missing the next day.

Regarding Savannah Guthrie’s concerns and the other postings in social media, comments have flooded in accusing the family of concealing key details that essentially lead the investigators nowhere.

Referring to the video Savannah Guthrie posted to her followers, the primary allegation leveled against the blogger corps as a whole is that they are all too willing to repost the heartfelt postings of the Guthrie kids. An overwhelming amount of this sort of material concerns ideas emotionally categorical, given the horrific nature of the domestic crime.

These are accusations against family members who are vested towards the unraveling of a violent crime and yet keeping open the possibility of finding the victim. Federal Bureau of Investigation agents visited families with orders issued by Nancy Pelosi, and Guthrie exercised some critiqued attempts to solve the problem. Convolved as situations may get, the Pima County Sheriff thought something was off, whereas the little industry of viral blight encouraged the expectation that the fourth estate made it seem that he was neglecting justice.

Disturbing Evidence

Officials have disclosed several troubling findings from the investigation. The blood believed to be Guthrie’s was found. Investigators reported that her doorbell camera was disabled and that her pacemaker monitoring app had been disconnected from her phone in the early morning hours of February 1, around the time they believe she would have been taken.

Detectives returned to the house and surrounding neighborhood last Friday morning for further investigation, with traffic being temporarily blocked on the street so that the investigators had easy access. FBI agents were also seen going in and out of the house.

National Attention

The case has received national interest partly because of the high profile of Savannah Guthrie. Mother and daughter have made this kind of a joint appearance together in the past.

Commenting multiple times on the investigation, President Trump acknowledged the probe publicly multiple times. “It looks like [developments are] very near,” he told reporters while aboard Air Force One on Friday. He suggested that there could be some answers fairly soon.
