Global Experts Convene in Hyderabad to Shape a Sustainable Future

Global Experts Meet in Hyderabad to Drive Sustainable Materials and Net-Zero Solutions

Global scientists and researchers, as well as industrial leaders, participated in the 3rd International Conference on Novel Materials and Technologies for Energy and Environmental Applications (NMTE2A-2026) held by the Department of Chemical Engineering, BITS Pilani, on February 7 and 8 in Hyderabad this week.

Organized around the theme “Empowering Energy/Empowering Materials for Building a Net-Zero Tomorrow,” this lively 2-day program saw a participation of more than 250 individuals from the academia, research organizations, and industry. NMTE2A-2026 provided a unique open space to broach climate change and energy system topics, as well as concentrate on structural designs applying innovative technologies under the respective heads.

Dr Popular empirical result Dr Kingsuk Mukhopadhyay, Director DMSRDE-DRDO, emphasized the strategic significance of advanced materials and clean technologies in future climate resilience. Several of the side lectures were organized into the conference. Some of the keynote speakers included professionals Angela G. U. Kulkarni (JNCASR), K. S. Venkatagiri (executive director of the CII-Godrej Green business center), Prof. Vamsi Yadavalli (Virginia Commonwealth University, USA) of the artificial intelligence (AI) generation and control group mentioned above, and Prof. Rajan Jose (Ming Chi University of Technology, Taiwan), alongside Dr. Asit Kumar Das (Reliance Industries Limited).

Over 120 research articles were presented in a packed conference program, covering almost every facet of materials research. Areas such as carbon capturing and utilization, hydrogen and fuel cell and electric drive technology, AI-driven materials discovery using combinatorial methods, electrochemical systems, bio-based materials and recycling, as well as solutions towards recycling and circular economies being the most interesting focus areas. Some topics also addressed scalable technological solutions that could support the global transition to net-zero emissions.

Guest lecturers and researchers (University faculty) of great repute – like IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad, IICT and NIT Tiruchirappalli, and so on-shared their ideas and discussed several promising possibilities including membrane technologies, catalysis, advanced sensors, and other progressive process and technologies as a way to industrial sustainability (read/process/permanent/tangible argument). It was an occasion to get hands-on with advanced simulation tools during the ANSYS Chemkin Pro pre-conference workshop.

An equally magnificent moment was the valedictory address given by Dr. Nagendra Babu Samineni, Managing Director of Unistring Tech Solutions, advocating the importance of industry-academia participation in translating research into real-life applications.

“Our aim was to equip a forthcoming crop of researchers with the right tools and collaborations to make the world cleaner and more sustainable. The response and the engagement these two days show a confirmation that we are moving in the right direction,” said the organizers.

The success of NMTE2A-2026 has been supported by strong institutional and industry backing with sponsors that include Zen Technologies, Swagelok, Agilent, Elementar, UltraTech Cement, Hiden Analytical, Bharat Science, Wiley, and ANRF. Wiley, another sponsor, awarded prizes for the best oral and poster presentation.

Given the emphasis on innovation, collaboration, and sustainability, NMTE2A-2026 has helped immensely in consolidating the position of Hyderabad as a budding center for cutting-edge research and discourse on clean energy, and setting the stage for future breakthroughs in sustainable materials and technologies.
