ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Begins: Google Unveils Special Doodle as India Take on USA in Opener

ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Kicks Off as Google Unveils Special Cricket Doodle

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to start from February 7, and Google has begun with a fantastic animated Google Doodle in celebration of the global cricket tournament. Co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, this event is jam-packed with twenty teams competing for the prestigious Cup.

Designed specifically for the cricket enthusiast (and fun lover), the Google Doodle sports a theme of bright pink colours. This animated illustration consists of stylized letters, except for one, with a creatively placed green cricket bat, in place of the letter ‘L’, and an ‘O’ with a shy cricketing ball, playing another cute three dimensional trick. The final letter is sideswiped by a drum-not so discreetly tipping its cap to the high-octane atmosphere that their home crowds and fans bring associated with stadium life in Sri Lanka.

Upon clicking on the Doodle, the entire schedule for the game will be opened, which includes 55 matches separated between four groups: A, B, C, and D. Its interactive design is said to serve as a Google channel, with nations extending their blessing upon the tournament.

The first day of these games promises a bustling lineup of matches across the locations in India and Sri Lanka. The Pakistani and Dutch teams are head to head for the first match at 11 am at Colombo while the match between West Indies and Scotland will follow at 3 pm. The hosts, India, will play against the USA in the evening game at 7 pm IST.

The 2026 edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be the 10th hosted across the two countries in eight cities and will conclude on the 8th of this month with the final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Prior to the commencement of the on-field action will be the opening ceremony at the famous Wankhede Stadium of Mumbai from 6 p.m. The ceremony will flaunt RL-Scorcher with rapper Badshah, actor cum performer Nora Fatehi, sitarist Rishab Rikhiram Sharma, and percussionist Sivamani.

India entered the scene with a glowing status last, having won in 2024 under Rohit Sharma, and will strive to ease the task facing their own home crowds.
