Super Junior’s Choi Siwon Sparks Debate With Cryptic Post After Yoon Suk Yeol Verdict

The K-pop artist Choi Siwon created online discussions through his Instagram post which contained a mysterious message that people connected to the recent life imprisonment ruling of former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The Super Junior member shared a picture through his Instagram account which displayed two Chinese idioms. The phrases translate roughly to: “If you are not righteous, you will surely perish” and “to collapse completely, like the earth crumbling.” The message which people commonly interpret as a warning shows that corruption and injustice will bring about their ultimate downfall.

Online Speculation Grows

The online community started a discussion about Choi Siwon’s Instagram account which the community members used to track information about Yoon Suk Yeol’s sentencing. Users of the site believed that the artist created the message to respond to the former president’s sentencing about the martial law rebellion case.

Siwon faced increased speculation because he had supported Yoon Suk Yeol after the president won the 2022 election.

Mixed Reactions From Fans

The post quickly drew mixed reactions online. Some netizens criticized the singer, arguing that his public political expressions could negatively impact the group’s image. A section of fans even called for his removal from group activities, claiming his views were causing controversy.

Some people told others to avoid making too many assumptions about the post because it contained no political references about specific leaders or events.

Past Controversies Resurface

The renewed scrutiny has also brought attention to Siwon’s previous political and social media activity, including his public support for certain international political commentators, which had earlier sparked criticism among fans.

Siwon and his agency have not made any statements to explain the meaning of his post which has become the subject of online discussion.
