Microsoft’s head of gaming, Asha Sharma, was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Gaming after longtime gaming head Phil completed his news, Satya Nadella revealed in a message to the employees.

This leadership change signifies an epochal transition for Microsoft’s gaming division to increase its worldwide footprint and make its consumer ecosystem more robust.

New Leadership Announced by Nadella

Nadella privately emailed, “Asha Sharma will report to me and drive the next leg of growth for Microsoft Gaming.”

“I’m excited to share that Asha Sharma will become Executive Vice President and CEO, Microsoft Gaming,” Nadella wrote.

He discussed Sharma’s work experience in constructing significant consumer platforms, bringing to light her previous works like Chief Operating Officer of Instacart and Vice President with Facebook (‘Meta’). During the past two years at Microsoft, she has been playing a central role in orchestrating services reaching billions of users.

Phil Spencer’s Legacy.

Nadella also acknowledged Spencer for his nearly four decades of services to Microsoft and his 12 years leading the gaming division.

Under Spencer, Microsoft Gaming:

Expanded to PC, mobile, and cloud platforms

Grew nearly threefold in size

Underwent numerous high-profile mergers and acquisitions with an outlay that included Activision Blizzard and ZeniMax Media

Enhanced studio culture along with developing content on a broader global scale

Spencer will continue to liaise with Sharma to facilitate the hand-over for robust continuity.

Shifting the Responsibilities of Matt Booty

Under the new company structure, Matt Booty will now don the hat of Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer; he will henceforth report directly to Sharma.^[5]

In his time with Microsoft Gaming, the software manufacturer’s total studio count grew to just under 40 studios across Xbox, Bethesda, Activision Blizzard, and King. He will certainly authentically promote such franchises as:
