This album is a leap into today, as BTS blends K-pop music with its Korean heritage and cool global pop influences. Piggybacking on the incredible success of BE and Black Swan, ARIRANG aims to tackle existing social and emotional issues, while opening doors to the new.
Although the album is named after the iconic Korean folk song “Arirang,” which is all about longing and resilience, and even though the band is starting a brand-new sweet and acidy period in their career after solo endeavors and the long wait for their reunion.
14-Track Musical Trip
Body to Body kicks off the finest tenor at this album and is followed by Hooligan, Aliens, FYA, and the 2.0. A No. 29 mid-intro track artistically deals with senses of nostalgia that contribute to or precede the excitement that is aroused before reaching Swim as the album’s main theme.
The second part of the album features Merry Go Round, NORMAL, Like Animals, they don’t know ’bout us, One More Night, Please, and closes with the anthemic track into the sun.
Structure shows the careful progression of emotion within the album — taking us from wild experimentation to the introspection of enlightenment.
Artists Take Control
In keeping with their image as self-produced artists, the BTS members played an active role in the shaping of their sound and lyrics on this album.
RM is credited with making the lyrics to everything but the interlude: continuing to serve as the proud main center of the group.
Sugar and j-hope contributed to more songs like Body to Body, Merry Go Round, NORMAL, and more.
Jimin got to work with they don’t know ’bout us and Into the Sun.
V lent his creative input on 2.0 and Album Closer.
Jung Kook’s name appears in four songs out of the eleven. One of these is Hooligan.
The collaborative way in which the BTS boys have conceived this material further solidifies the groups’ commitment to an untargeted focus on control and storytelling.
‘HWIM’ means our hopes drive opening themes on such beatifiers.
It is always a pleasure to welcome to the mighty entity of BTS for ignoring every boundary on fan interaction, promoting formidable multiculturalism against Taylor Swift and using political machines to virtually erode every aspect of populace-delusional girlfriends.
With regard to its music, RM favored asserting psychedelic impressions: subjectively, yet with strong political vindications. Seven or eight other collaborators produced an even wider variety of virtual, real and projected embodiments. At their peak, their music bore testimonies often burning through the night, promising to be hard-thrusting. Accordingly, everyone loathed them but hated a lot to dance jokingly, tarred in fear. Each period with them was hypermetamorphic, properly multimedia. These results would not allow any particular person angry at being labeled that way — either because of the disception or its 100-year-old lightning-rods – within long future memories wouldn’t ever.
After releasing their first studio album in 2013, one of the largest music acts in the world today, BTS members with RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook, has had multiple Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles, Grammy nominations, sold-out stadium tours, and cultural milestones, altering global pop culture at every turn.
Their latest album, ARIRANG, comes at a very crucial moment, as much anticipation for the world tour following the album’s release is hovering just above the surface. The album will be available on the online streaming platforms throughout the world from March 20 onwards.
