Vande Bharat 4.0: Next-Gen Train to Launch in 18 Months — Here’s What to Expect

However, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Wednesday announced that the next generation Vande Bharat or Vande Bharat 4.0 will be developed. It was revealed that its design will be in line with export demands. He said that Vande Bharat 4.0 will combine advanced technology with better comfort. Ashwini Vaishnav said that this will support the ambition of making India a hub for railway innovations and exports.Indian Railways is crossing unprecedented milestones… 35,000 km of new railway tracks have been laid and 46,000 km have been electrified in the last 11 years, Ashwini Vaishnav said. 7,000 coaches and 1,681 locomotives are being manufactured annually, he said. Along with Vande Bharat, the Centre is planning to develop high-speed passenger train (bullet train) corridors with a maximum speed of 350 km on major routes, which will provide faster, more efficient travel, he said.Referring to the progress on India’s first bullet train project, the minister said that 325 km of track has already been completed. He said that he had recently visited Surat and Bilimora stations, which will be part of the first operational section to be commissioned in 2027. He said that the modern train fleet in India has also expanded rapidly, with 156 Vande Bharat Express services, 30 Amrit Bharat Express services and four Namo Bharat services. As part of the modernization efforts, Vande Bharat 4.0 – the next generation train that will be designed to match and surpass global standards in comfort, speed and technology – is being developed

He said that these trains will have better toilets, better seating and state-of-the-art facilities for passengers. He said that they are aiming to launch it in the next 18 months.He said that currently in India, Vande Bharat is in the 3.0 stage… This train will reach a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in 52 seconds. But the next version will take that limit to the next level. Vaishnav confirmed that Vande Bharat sleeper trains will also be launched soon.
