HMDA Plans Another Major Greenfield Road Project

Construction of Budvel-Kosgi greenfield road set to boost connectivity and industrial growth in Telangana.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is preparing to usher in a new era of transportation by building a greenfield highway that will link Budvel and Kosgi on National Highway 167, thus connecting the main TGIIC industrial zones. The marking of the road as four-lane is stretching over a distance of around 81 km, and this has extended a 55 km plan from Kotwalguda to Parigi to cover more areas. A project consultant is to be hired shortly to develop the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project.

This step is taken along with the Ratan Tata Greenfield Road, which is a 41.5-km road from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) junction of Raviryala to Mirkhanpet and Amangal. The total cost of this project is Rs. 4,621 crore. HMDA expects to finish this road within one year.

In addition, the government has plans for constructing 12 to 16 radial roads which would provide better connections from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the Triple Ring Road (TRR), giving a boost to the existing roads at 22 ORR junctions, and creating greenfield roads in chosen areas. The completion of these projects will pave the way for future residential, industrial, and commercial growth in the expanding corridors of Hyderabad.
