Dhanush received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor because of his exceptional work in Vada Chennai. The film received multiple awards after achieving critical success which included Best Villain and Best Music Director and Best Supporting Actor and Best Cinematographer.
The Tamil Nadu government announced awards for films which screened between 2016 and 2022 and the winners will receive their gold medals and certificates and mementos at a ceremony which will take place on February 13 at Kalaivanar Arangam.
Dhanush expressed his gratitude on social media, writing, “I sincerely thank the Government of Tamil Nadu for conferring upon me the State Award for Vada Chennai. The award I received brings me great honor. Heartfelt congratulations to all other awardees as well.” Fans in the comments section praised his performance while they congratulated him.
Vada Chennai Dominates Awards
Vada Chennai won in seven categories:
- Best Villain: Samuthirakani
- Best Supporting Actor: Ameer
- Best Music Director: Santhosh Narayanan
- Best Cinematographer: Velraj
- Best Actress (Special Prize): Aishwarya Rajesh for Vada Chennai and Kanaa
- Best Actor (Special Prize): Vishnu Vishal for Ratsasan
In between those, Mari Selvaraj’s directorial venture par Excellence, Pariyaerum Perumal was adjudged the ultimate best, however, Kadaikutty Singam ended up being the first-runner-up in Best Picture category. The third best was 96.
Dhanush appeared in Tere Ishk Mein opposite Kriti Sanon for his most recent film and his fans are excited about his future projects.
