Several Killed as Explosion Hits Bar in Switzerland’s Crans-Montana Resort Town

In regard to the bomb explosion, the authorities announced on Thursday that a loud explosion had occurred in a crowded bar in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, while the New Year party was at its best, causing death and injury.

The explosion happened in the center of all the action at Le Constellation, which is a bar that is very popular with the tourists in the luxurious ski resort town. The police from the Valais canton situated in the southwest of the country stated that they were still working on the inquiry of the blast’s origin.

Casualties and Response
Police spokesperson Gaetan Lathion told AFP, “There has been an explosion of unknown origin. There are several injured and several dead.” Sky News said that a minimum of ten fatalities have been reported, however, local news sources hint that the number might be even more. Over a hundred individuals were present in the pub at the time of the blast.

A variety of emergency services such as fire trucks, ambulances, and police units hurried to the scene. There were reports of fire covering a section of the structure. The government has quarantined the vicinity and has also placed a temporary ban on flights above Crans-Montana to support the rescue and investigation activities.

Investigation Underway
The first priority of the emergency staff is to help the wounded, make the area safe, and investigate the cause of the blast. The explosion has interrupted the New Year’s festivities at the luxurious winter resort.

Unverified footage of the blast is circulating through social media, but it has not yet been verified by the police. In the meantime, the detectives are looking into the matter very carefully, considering all evidence and the inquiry is still ongoing since the case has not been closed yet.
