The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared that seven high-speed rail corridors will be built to connect different Indian cities through an eco-friendly transportation system.
The main corridors will create high-speed bullet train service between Hyderabad and Pune and between Hyderabad and Chennai and Bengaluru which will allow travelers to reach their destinations faster while helping to boost local economies.
Sitharaman pronounced that “seven high-speed rail corridors will connect cities as growth connectors which will create an environmentally-sustainable passenger system. during her Union Budget 2026 presentation.
The proposed corridors will establish connections between major economic and cultural centers through Mumbai-Pune, Chennai-Bengaluru, Delhi-Varanasi, and Varanasi-Siliguri links which will connect essential national hubs.
The Finance Minister launched a dedicated freight corridor which will connect Dankuni in the east with Surat in the west while providing sustainable cargo transportation solutions.
The Ahmedabad-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor currently undergoes construction work which will connect multiple states and districts through its operational Eastern and Western dedicated freight corridors.
The new projects will reshape travel patterns throughout India by decreasing travel durations while developing environmentally friendly infrastructure in the country’s expanding urban areas.
