IPL 2026 Mini Auction Likely Between December 13–15: Major Overhauls Expected for CSK, RR, MI & RCB — Reports

Franchises prepare their retention lists ahead of the IPL 2026 auction as the deadline approaches.

The much-anticipated 2026 IPL mini-auction is expected to be held between December 13 and 15, thereby marking the event’s return to India after being held abroad for two times. According to Cricbuzz reports, the tentative agreement on the dates is between BCCI and representatives of the franchises, subject to final approval by the IPL Governing Council.

🏏 Auction Returns to Indian Soil

After successful auctions held in Dubai (2023) and Jeddah (2024), this upcoming IPL mini-auction will prove to be a much-awaited one back home. The venue is yet to be decided, but BCCI officials are keen to have the auction in India to perhaps revive their fan engagement and traditional buzz about the event.

📅 Player Retention Deadline: November 15

All 10 IPL franchises have been informed that November 15, 2025, will be the last date to retain the players. Before the mini-auction, teams will have to submit the final list of players retained and released.

While most franchises might be expected to hold their core squads, sides such as Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are planning major reshuffles after shocking performances in IPL 2025.

💛 CSK to Let Go of Senior Players?

For a long time, players like Devon Conway, Sam Curran, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, and Rahul Tripathi have reportedly been awaiting contracts with Chennai Super Kings.

Recently, the five-time IPL champion team received a purse update worth ₹9.75 crores due to Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement from the league. With this extra purse money, CSK might look forward to bidding for young talent with a view to building a robust team heading into IPL 2026.

💗 Rajasthan Royals’ Leadership Under Scrutiny

There is a report that, within the Rajasthan Royals, management is considering changes to leadership and organizational structure. The future of Sanju Samson, the skipper, depends on possible trade talks, while RR is seeking solutions to inconsistencies that plagued its 2025 outing.

🇦🇺 Bidding War Set Aflame by Cameron Green

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is soon to emerge as one of the most sought-after commodities in the auction. Missing out on the 2025 IPL due to injury, Green has now fully recovered and will be the focus of a red-hot bidding war involving franchises such as MI, RCB, and LSG.

Recognized for bringing all-round prowess to the team, Green’s return will profoundly affect team configurations for the IPL 2026.
