Pakistan has made a proclamation to the globe that they are going to be the first team to uncloak their provisional team for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. Still, the report has brought along some miraculous happenings which have already raised the discussion among the fans and experts about the players. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Salman Ali Agha as the leader of the group of sixteen players who will be present at the venue co-organized by India and Sri Lanka from February seventh to March eighth.
The list of players consists of many top players, but the most shocking thing was to leave out Mohammad Rizwan from the list. Usman Khan has been chosen as the main wicketkeeper, hence the former captain of white-ball cricket is not in the team anymore.
The top scorer, Babar Azam, though he has been recently under fire for his performance, is still part of the troop and this is a sign of the selectors’ strong faith in the player’s skill. The pacer Shaheen Afridi is on the roster as well, but his condition is uncertain due to the knee injury he sustained while playing in the Big Bash League. To make sure the bowling department is not affected, Haris Rauf has been added to the pace attack.
All-rounder Shadab Khan returns to the team, and Pakistan’s spinning department gets a reinforcement while a few promising young and adaptable players have also been incorporated in the team. The announcement of the team selection was made by the PCB after the T20 series against Sri Lanka. The series would be consisting of T20 matches starting on January 11.
Pakistan is placed in Group A together with India, the USA, Namibia, and the Netherlands, which is really a very strong group. The most exciting match of the tournament, and the clash of India and Pakistan, is scheduled to take place in Colombo on February 15.
